Disable hibernate in your Windows PC to truly save HDD space

Whenever your PC hibernates, it generates a file in your root C: that can swell to a lot of gigabytes of information if left unchecked called hiberfil.sys.

To disable it:

Run command prompt as Administrator * Vista, 7, and 8 users: type cmd in your hunt bar then right click "cmd" and press "run as administrator"

Enter exactly powercfg -h off

this will disable hibernate on your computer. It will probably still sleep, although not hibernate.

It is your computers bookmark for when it hibernates. In the event that you never hibernate, it does not require it. Hibernation may be a useful function, so if you ever desire to use that function, accept the file as a caveat.
